The Church and Church Centre are located on Kilgraston Road. Arriving by bus from the city centre is relatively easy. Many Lothian Buses are wheelchair accessible and the stops for the 5, 24 and 41 from the city centre are close at hand. Arriving by car is similarly easy, however there is no parking available in the church grounds for visitors, with the exception of vehicles accessing the grounds to drop off infirm/disabled passengers only. There is street parking available nearby and we also have bike racks available in the church grounds.

Our Team

The members of the Congregation and Staff Team ensure the efficient running of the Church and Centre. We have a Kirk Session, members of the congregation, who attend to the spiritual leadership and decision making, led by David Beattie and Jessica McCraw. The staff team ensure that the day to day running of the building. We are committed to ensuring everyone who uses the space has the best experience.

Finance

Our aim is to have our income equal to our expenditure. This aim is not always easy to achieve. Our income streams are offerings and other donations, tax recovered on gift aid, rental income, dividend income from our investments, and income from our café.
Expenditure includes our Ministries and Mission contribution to the Church of Scotland, salaries for our employees, utilities, equipment and maintenance of our buildings and everything required to help the Church Centre, including the office and café to function.

Heritage

The church may have a relatively short history as it was formed on 11th June 1972, but its roots go back to the late 1600s. Marchmont St Giles’ was the union of three local churches, West St Giles’, Warrender Church and the Grange Church. The Grange Church began life as the Robertson Memorial Church after local residents met together to consider the formation of a church in the area. It was originally an iron church before being replaced by the building we stand in today.

The Shuttle

The Shuttle is the magazine of Marchmont St Giles’ Parish Church and is published on the 2nd Sunday of the month except for July, August and January. It is available in standard (A5) and large print (A4), and on our website as a pdf. The Shuttle contains a calendar of services and events in the Church and Church Centre, news and views, various reports and articles of general and topical interest.
